A friend needs Help

Greetings,
I like to share with you about my sister's health in Fiji. She has been having a bleeding intestine for over a year and had two surgery and nothing change. The doctors has send her back to my Island because they can not do anything more. She is laying in bed or by wheelchair.I call my mother in Fiji yersterday and she said that things doesn't look good and we don't know how long she is will live.She is 38yrs and she lives with her husband and 3 son and a daughter.

I know we always send our newsletter to raise fund for the mission and projects but this will be a challenge for me to ask directly for my own use and not for mission. One thing that blows me away that these children don’t know how to read or write but they are taught to memorize scripture and taught how to pray. It is God that makes it possible for this young people to pray and to speak out the word of God.

Dear Pastor Mike,

Greetings from Gabu, in Guinea Bissau in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I’m sending this email to ask for your support in building a church in a Fulani village.
(Pastor Lusio with his pulpit under the trees) It begins with a young man who was our day guard on our base in 2007. Later he was interested of doing a Discipleship Training School (DTS). After his school he went back to his village and start sharing his faith with his family and other village members. Some of converts have been baptize, now he has started his small church under the cashew trees from five members and to 30 members. Rainy season is big challenge for this church under the trees.

The challenge I’m presenting to your mission board and the church members if you prayerfully consider supporting the building of this church. We already made 1,500 dubi blocks (cement mix with mud). The total cost to build this church from foundation, walls, cement flooring, beams, and roofing is $6,000

The church si currently meeting under trees.

Sometimes God's love overwhelms me. When I think of the Journey that my life has been these 36 (37 year tomorrow)years, I am amazed at His Truth, His Grace, His Humor, His kindness and mostly His love and guidance. From a boy that loves sports, cars and 4x4's to a young man, that loved all things of the world, theatre and the Oakland Raiders; to a man who is a Minister of the Word, a Father, a husband and a friend. This journey was all orchestrated by the One who is above all.

It moves me to think that God loves me. If you have known me you know I am screwed up, you have screwed up and you know I mes up again. God is better than than we will ever know, and he is our King, our Father, our Redeemer, Our King of Peace and our Hope. It does not matter what you have chosen for your life, or the mistakes you have made. What truly matters is that the LORD God loves you and desires to spend more time with you. I think that si what is so amazing about God. He desires to spend time with a screw-up like me and loves me espcially when I mess up and come to him as his arms are wide open waiting to hug me.

A new Year and a New Hope

Howdy all,
I am grateful that you still check this little blog of mine and that others come and check it too. If you enjoy please spread the word, and add it to your blog list, Facebook or MySpace accounts. I do not know about you, but I am glad that 2008 is over with. I felt that it was a year of scandals, disappointments and dis-trust.
The American Election is over and Barack Obama is the man who will help Congress and the Supreme Court either screw up America more, or fix our problems.

I just hope that honestly submit themselve to and listen to God. I know that all the American people can use a "bail out" Send me $300,000 and see what I do with it. I know the mortgages would not be failing and either would the auto industry, because people like new cars and they like owning homes. It's just practical common sense.

My hopes for this year are little different. I think the god of money is finally dying in the states and hopefully around the world. Hopefully people will start trusting the creator more. I think that we are going to see some more natural disasters as God is calling people back to him. Not out of discipline or punishment, but as his people share their love for Jesus with their fellow man by giving a helpful hand.

Some of the ways we can do this practically - Visit people. I have been encouraged by fellow leader's to get out more and visit our sheep. (I hope they will join me).

- Read the Bible, Study the Bible ask hard questions about what you are reading "How does this apply to me?" "what changes do I need to make in my life?" "Who are people in my life I need to say goodbye too?" "How can I be a better example of Christ like living in my home, my churhc and my community?"

- Support your church, Give them your time, your talents and your treasure. God gave them all you anyway, why not use them to bless others.

- Support you pastor and his family. We get from all sides of every issue. We are target of everyone criticisms and we get all the blame for the everything that is wrong in your lives or in your church. Plus we have Satan to deal with and our own struggles.

-Pray

-Sing praises to your king Daily.

-Find a devotional book and go through it. This year I picked up the Experiencing God one. Devotional books are great tools for you to grow closer to God.

-Be Thankful
- Be Nice
- Be bringer of Joy.
- Be Hopeful
- Laugh
- Walk in Faith
- Remember Jesus is your Life
- Share your faith with one person this year
- Smile (I hear they are contagious
- Forgives others
and enjoy being a Son or daughter of the most High God.

My Friend Jeff has lost his mind. :) Actually Jeff is on a great faith journey. He has left the Independant Christ Church and is now a Pastor of a Baptist church. I wish him well and will always love him.
We might disagree on some things doctrinely, but we will always agree that Jesus is enough. He posted this video (I believe by Piper) on his blog and I wanted to share it with you today.

No matter the battle. God is still here and we have a reason to sing and worship. Life can suck sometimes. It really can. Life can suck the life out of you and it is in our darkness we must remember, We must remember that GOD IS OUR VICTORY and that he loves us. He is not far, he is near. He is passionately near us, waiting for us to talk with him, pray with him, praise him, and patiently wait for us to give him all our burdens.
Give them to the one who take care of it. Give everything over to Jesus. Do it today, you have no need to hang on to it anymore. Let the Cross of Christ heal you, cleanse you, wash you and guide you.

Redeeming Friendships

I am now on Facebook and connecting up with people from my past. It has been a interasting trip the last couple of weeks. Before this my first g/f contacted me to see who I was doign through Classmates.

Most of the people that knew me in High school or college would not reconginze the man who sits behind the keyboard and challenges all us to live better for Jesus. I was differet. I did not have a good self-esteem. I did not know "WHO I AM IN CHRIST" and did not beleive that God truely loved me and cared for me.

That has all changed. As we transform into the likeness of our Savior Jesus Christ we see that he has things to say about us:

1. I am the salt of the earth and the light of the World – Matt 5:13-14
2. I am a Child of God – John 1:12
3. I am part of the True Vine, a branch of Christ’s life to bear much fruit for the Kingdom of God – John 15:1-17
4. I am Christ Jesus’ friend – John 15:15
5. I am chosen and appointed by Christ to bear His Fruit – John 15:16
6. I have died to myself and no longer a slave to sin, instead I am slave of righteousness – Romans 6: 1-23
7. I am a joint heir with Christ, sharing HIS inheritance with Him and will be glorified with him – Romans 8:17
8. I am child of God and He is spiritually my Father – Rom 8:14, Gal 3:26
9. I am temple, a dwelling place of God; His Spirit and His life dwell in me and I have been bought with a price – 1 Cor 3:16, 6:19-20
10. I am joined (united) to the Lord and have become one spirit with him – 1 Cor 6:17

12. I am reconciled to God and I am minister of Reconciliation –

Because of these things. I have GOD-esteem and I know who I am. The great thing is people that I have not talked to in 18 years are now getting to see a changed man. A man that is more concerned abotu the kingdom of God, and his children then about himself.

God redeems friendships in that these people are back in my life, and they see the old addage "Look what the Lord has done to me"

Let God unfold it

Wow,
I have been all of the place this summer, and have neglected my blog, and keeping it updated. I ask for you to forgive me and I will try to get better posting. Currently I am averaging about once a month. I also need to update my links and other things.

I have a new mentor in my life. He is pastor from a different type of church then I minister at and he has been in the ministry over 20 years compared to me celebrating year 5 starting this October.

There are things that never change. You can switch churches, switch city, state or even countries and there will still be the same old problems. Most of the problems that Pastors deal with in ministry rotate around SIN. Pride is a big one, elevating tradition to being just as important to scripture (Idolatry?) is another, and so are unbiblically characterized church leadership. In other words people who are leading the church and have no business according to the Bible (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, 1 Peter 5) to be in those roles.

Sometimes I think it would be easier to just to take them out back and *cough* "show" them the error's of their ways. Other times I pray for their repentance. Mostly I just want them to leave me alone, and for them to follow God's Word. A friend of mine once encouraged me that the Bride of Christ is full of Zits and that Jesus loves her anyway. While I agree with him, I also know that most people POP zits to get the disease out. :)

If you are a church leader (elder) and do not find yourself full of the Spirit(look at the fruits of the Spirit; Gal 5), full of wisdom (look at your fruits, are they honoring GOD, self, man or tradition) and of a good reputation (what people honestly think of you). Then it is time for you to repent and for some to resign.

The problem with most churches starts at the top, starts at the examples, the ones who are to be walking in Christ, because they (elders, Ministers/Pastors) are going to give an account to God for all that we have done. I wonder what would happen if the leaders of any given church were honestly "Sold Out" to Jesus and Him alone? How would that change the church, the community, the state, the country and the world we live in? We might actually save a few souls, and in the process our selves. I look forward to this day in my church,when it has Elders. Men who are completly Sold out to Jesus Christ and the Great Commission instead of worry about the color of toilet paper.

My mentor rebuked me the other day. He knows that I am idealistic and hold a high standard for the Word of God. He also knows that I part of the McDonald's,Starbucks, ATM and microwave oven generation and we expect things to be done "Now!" He reminded me that when God blooms a rose it is beautiful and takes time to unfold. When man pulls the petals to make a rose bloom, it is ugly.

Let us all remember to let God unfold in his time what he desires.

Who do you listen to and why do you listen to them? These are important questions to ask ourselves. Are the people we are listening following the world of God? Are they speaking scripture, are they teaching about Christ Jesus or are they preaching themselves?

In Lakeland Florida a "revival" ( I have not heard of any salivations or the Gospel shared) is taking place by a guy named Todd Bentley. You might of heard of him, from CNN, CBN, TBN and GodTV. You might of heard of from from some fo your friends, online forums, and other blogs.

There appears to be something happening in Florida. People are being healed of various things. A friend wrote a report on his experience there:

Each of us comes to our conclusionsthrough our own filters. Granted our best filter is the Word of God. I feel the need to share a video that I found on YouTube. It is the first part of (so far) five part series on what is happening in Lakelan Florida. I do not know the people that made the video, but soem fo their words do ring true. Please watch all 5 of the videos and prayerfully decide for yourselves.

I want to leave you with scripture to think about when these things happen in our world. Some of them I believe are great and God sent, and some of them I do believe are from the evil one. We are told of people leaving the flock of God in oreder to follow those that tickle thier ears in 1 Timothy 4; that there will be false teachers in 1 timothy 6, and in 2 Peter 2.

I think it is important to remember that one of the Fruits fo the SPirt is "Self Control"

Matthew 7:21-23 ESV

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who si in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, 'Lord did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' 23 And I will declare to them, 'I never knre you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'

Just because someone is casting out demons, and speaking, and mighty works are being downs does not mean they know Jesus.

It's been about a month

Sometimes when Life get's crazy I forget to take time out for myself. I forget to take a rest and just go "ahh". In the last 2 weeks we have hosted funeral's and starting praying about some major things for this church that I am honored to serve at. However for the last month I have not stopped enough to smell the roses, let alone know that roses are blooming.

I have been involved in some discussions about church, politics (Hillary Clinton is starting to make sense to me, family, children, real worship and just helping peopel in general.

I am starting to care more about my flock. This might surprise you, but all pastors that have been abused by churches are weary about being hurt again. There is an old saying "Screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me". Most of us do not want to go through all the pain, or take our families through the pain of a bad church again. To be honest some churches will make you want to leave the ministy, or church, if not following Christ all together.

Where sin is accepted, celebrated, rationalized, and justified, there will always be problems, there will always be the water fo the word fo God, and there will always be baby milk Christians. Where are the meat eaters? Where are the mature in christ Jesus? Why are these people not standing up for God and his word? Are there any of these people left in the church?

The problem in church is sin. Your sin and my sin. The reason that we sin, is becasue we decided to choose something over God.
That is a problem
We must learn to choose God first, and that also means that we must choose to follow Christ and his teachings.

if not then we are just playing the game called Life and we are playing Christianity. We might look like it, but in reality wea re not honestly following God. I think that is what breaks my heart the most, people who claim to love Jesus but deny them by thier words and actions. We know that si why many people have walked away from the Lord, and why many people ahve walked away from what si suppossed to be the safe place the church.

The only way that it will get better, is when we tak time to be Holy. When we spend time with the Lord, and slow ourselves down to enojy his creation.

Articles of Faith: Seven habits of highly ineffective churches

ON THE THEORY that a capacity to laugh at ourselves and our foibles is good for the soul, I recently wrote a piece for use in my own denomination, the United Church of Christ, called "The Seven Habits of Highly Ineffective Churches."

I suspect it can be generalized, with some mental editing, to temples, synagogues and other religious congregations. Tongue in cheek, here it is:

1. Elevate mediocrity to a spiritual discipline. Figure out where average falls and aim below there. Doing things with excellence, joy and flair may make someone uncomfortable. God doesn't really expect much anyhow.

2. Take no risks. A successful practice of risk avoidance is often best achieved by sending any and all new ideas to a minimum of four boards or committees who understand it's their role to say no to any new ideas. This process may need to be reinforced by remarks noting how a particular idea might make the church liable, cost money or ruffle feathers.

3. Practice the following evangelism strategy: "If they want us, they know where to find us." Assume that everyone does know where you are and what you are. It also can be helpful if your building looks like a medieval fortress. If you don't have that going for you, encourage ushers and greeters to look like palace guards as they perform their role.

4. Blame early and often. Maintaining dysfunction in a congregation is made easier if scapegoats are regularly identified. In some congregations, ministers make wonderful scapegoats. You may also blame "newcomers," or "people who don't understand how we do things in this church." If all else fails, blame the conference, the denomination or Satan.

5. Always be prepared to make an account of the excuses that are within you. Have an all-purpose excuse such as, "I've just been so busy" (elaborate at great length just how busy you are, implying that no one else is busy). Occasionally try out a creative new excuse, such as, "Our dog ate the printer-ink cartridge and required an emergency appendectomy. He is now very busy, too."

6. Make it clear to all that the job of the pastor(s) and staff is to keep everyone, meaning church members, happy. Think of your church as the "Love Boat" and the pastor as the cruise director and activity planner. The job of clergy and staff members is to keep everyone on board happy. If someone is unhappy, it's a sure sign your pastor is not doing the job.

7. Spend as little money as possible. Even though you may enjoy spending money on personal things like a car or a cruise, you can demonstrate your commitment to modesty and simple lifestyle at church. The very best programs cost nothing. And why would your church building need renovation? If it was good enough for your grandparents, it'll be good enough for your grandchildren.

Lessons learned from Fasting

Today I am ending a fast that started two week ago. As I began fasting I my close friends were asking me how long will you go , and I said " I don't know, I am hoping 40 days." Yes I wanted to be like Moses and Jesus. Fourteen days later, it is time to end. I do not know if I will ever fast for 40 days, I hope to someday, but that is up to God not me.

I never thought about fasting until 1997 when I read "The Celebration of Disciplines" By Foster. If you are Christ follower who desiress to learn tools that will deepen your walk with Jesus, then this is a good rescource for you.

I was drawn into the fast on my 36th birthday. Needless to say there was no big party, and no german chocolate cake. The reason I was drawn into the fast: There were some major issues in the lives of people that I have counseling, some things in my life, and some major issues that were affecting the church where I serve.

During the last 14 days I learned that I truly did turn to food for comfort instead of God (idolatry), that some demons need to be prayed over with prayer and fasting to get them out of people's lives and out of churches.. I gained greater insights into the things that I needed as a pastor to take authority over in my flock, and in my life. As the fast is ending I am realizing that we need to praise God continually as we are "praying without ceasing"

The scariest moment for me was when God was telling me to preach a different sermon than the one that I prepared for that week. I am propably you average joe pastor. We spend abotu 15-20 hours a week working on the sermons that god wants us to preach on Sundays. The time includes prayer, study, more prayer, practice, more prayer, honing our spirt's to listen to the Spirit, plus writng the sermon itself. That Sunday morning I had to trust God and the Divine Spirit to direct my words,to literally talk while I was the vessel. Needless to say there was a lot of wrestling in my soul, on that weekend, until I finllay preached HIS sermon. The subjuct that was covered "Tradition vs following God's word and If our hearts belong then why are they difiled?" - Matthew 15: 1-28, Collisians 2:6- 3:17

Needless to say that is was a toe stomper and butt kicker. People including me needed to repent of followign the idea's and traditions fo men, more that the word of God. That is hard to do when you have been in a church for years instead of being a church . Needless to say it is what God's people needed to hear, and we had a prayer of repentence at the end.

"You cannot be a Christian and be comfortable with your sin" - Holy Spirit

There is a lot of truth in that. We cannot be a Christ-follower, someone who is claiming to follow Jesus and then think that our sin is no big deal. It doesn't work that way. Our sin is what put him on the cross. Our sin is what cost him his life, what made him be torutred, whipped, spit on, etc. That was your sin, that was my sin, and he went through all it becasue he loves me.

Jesus loves you. This is the greatest thing that I have learned through my fasting. Jesus loves me. Above everything else that is what I needed to be reminded of, that si what I needed to hear, that si what I needed to learn. Jesus love you _______(insert your name)

Jesus loves me.

Think about it, meditate on it, go away by yourself, and just open yourself up to the reality of Jesus and his insane love for us.

Jesus love me.

Say it to yourself, say it out loud, say it proud, "Jesus loves ME!"

and then enjoy being his friend, and living like it.

A sad reality

Last month we had to give our dog back to the pound. We loved Bizbe, but she was not a great dog for us. I live on Church property. We have a 4ft fence and an open door policy. Bizbe was blue heeler and border collie mix. She was very cute and very well behaved. Except when people would coem over. At that point Bizbe would turn into Cujo. She would jump the fence in single bound, and go after the people. "Hi welcome to your pastor's house, she won't bite!" She never bit, but she did scare a lot of people, and one time ran out the door to chase down a friends kids.

As I say crying as my wife took her back to the pound, it hit me hard that I was heart broken, over my dog and yet, I did not cry over the lost who live in the Mission Valley.

Jesus came to destroy the works of the Devil and Save the World. His commishings us to teach his word, and show them his love. Have lost this in 2008? Have we forgot about the unbelievers and there plight? I had. I got busy with Decemeber and ministry stuff. I got busy with turning around a church, and dealign with internal conflicts and the sins behind them. i got busy in the word, on ofurms, rading blogs, and forgot that people need Jesus.

Forgot that I need Jesus too.

In 2008 I want to be more aware when it's time to shut my mouth, and open my heart. I want to look at the oppurtunities that GOD places me in and then enjoy being his child, and sharing my love for Jesus with others.

Sharing my love for Jesus, that is my goal. I hope it is your too

A Baby's Hug

We were the only family with children in the restaurant. I sat Erik in a high chair and noticed everyone was quietly sitting and talking. Suddenly, Erik squealed with glee and said, 'Hi.' He pounded his fat baby hands on the high chair tray. His eyes were crinkled in laughter and his mouth was bared in a toothless grin, as he wriggled and giggled with merriment.

I looked around and saw the source of his merriment. It was a man whose pants were baggy with a zipper at half-mast and his toes poked out of would-be shoes. His shirt was dirty and his hair was uncombed and unwashed. His whiskers were too short to be called a beard and his nose was so varicose it looked like a road map.

We were too far from him to smell, but I was sure he smelled. His hands waved and flapped on loose wrists. 'Hi there, baby; hi there, big boy. I see yaw, buster,' the man said to Erik.

My husband and I exchanged looks, 'What do we do?' Erik continued to laugh and answer, 'Hi.' Everyone in the restaurant noticed and looked at us and then at the man. The old geezer was creating a nuisance with my beautiful baby.

Our meal came and the man began shouting from across the room, 'Do ya patty cake? Do you know peek-a-boo? Hey, look, he knows peek-a-boo.' Nobody thought the old man was cute. He was obviously drunk.

My husband and I were embarrassed. We ate in silence; all except for Erik, who was running through his repertoire for the admiring skid-row bum, who in turn, reciprocated with his cute comments.

We finally got through the meal and headed for the door. My husband went to pay the check and told me to meet him in the parking lot. The old man sat poised between me and the door. 'Lord, just let me out of here before he speaks to me or Erik,' I prayed.

As I drew closer to the man, I turned my back trying to sidestep him and avoid any air he might be breathing. As I did, Erik leaned over my arm, reaching with both arms in a baby's 'pick-me-up' position. Before I could stop him, Erik had propelled himself from my arms to the man.

Suddenly a very old smelly man and a very young baby consummated their love and kinship. Erik in an act of total trust, love, and submission laid his tiny head upon the man's ragged shoulder. The man's eyes closed, and I saw tears hover beneath his lashes. His aged hands full of grime, pain, and hard labor, cradled my baby's bottom and stroked his back. No two beings have ever loved so deeply for so short a time.

I stood awestruck. The old man rocked and cradled Erik in his arms and his eyes opened and set squarely on mine. He said in a firm commanding voice, 'You take care of this baby.'

Somehow I managed, 'I will,' from a throat that contained a stone.

He pried Erik from his chest, lovingly and longingly, as though he were in pain. I received my baby, and the man said, 'God bless you, ma'am, you've given me my Christmas gift.'

I said nothing more than a muttered thanks. With Erik in my arms, I ran for the car. My husband was wondering why I was crying and holding Erik so tightly, and why I was saying, 'My God, my God, forgive me.'

I had just witnessed Christ's love shown through the innocence of a tiny child who saw no sin, who made no judgment; a child who saw a soul, and a mother who saw a suit of clothes. I was a Christian who was blind, holding a child who was not. I felt it was God asking, 'Are you willing to share your son for a moment?' when He shared His for all eternity.

The ragged old man, unwittingly, had reminded me, 'To enter the Kingdom of God, we must become as little children.'

We must always remember who we are, where we came from and, most importantly, how we feel about others. The clothes on your back or the car that you drive or the house that you live in does not define you at all; it is how you treat your fellow man that identifies who you are.

Several weeks ago, during our "Simple Church" series I had a new person admit to me that during one of my messages his first thought was, "This Pastor must be lazy." On the outside, when I first heard his comments I'm sure I looked very inquisitive and interested in his thoughts. Truthfully, on the inside I had thoughts of, "What!? Are you crazy? I've been called many things over the years - lazy is not one of them. Even the people who have left our church with their panties tightly in a wad over something and who have a long list of names for me, none of them are lazy. Let's go outside and I'll show you lazy!"

What brought about his thought? Here's some of what I said in that message: I talked about the importance of being connected in the community of a Small Group and my role as Pastor. According to Ephesians 4:11-13 my primary job is to prepare God's people for ministry. I am not supposed to do all the ministry. I am to equip God's people - you - to serve. Now, that doesn't mean that I get a pass as far as serving is concerned. It doesn't mean that I don't take up the towel and basin and wash people's feet. It doesn't mean that I don't get my hands dirty. It simply means that the church functions best when I am fulfilling my role as spiritual trainer, not everyone's personal partner.

In my message I said that in many churches people see the Pastor as the person who is personally responsible for everyone, all their needs and their spiritual growth - where I run around individually training everyone, where I know each person individually, your family, your extended family, and even your pets. I said that if you want that - you’re in the wrong place. That’s why most churches in America never grow beyond 150 people, because people think that the Pastor is their own personal trainer and partner.

The Biblical model is for Pastors to teach and motivate and inspire in the large gathering and then for the Body of Christ to help each other live it out in community. I care about you - I really do. That’s why I pray and lead and serve. But I can’t care for every one of you. If this church’s growth is dependent on how many people I know - this is it - we’re done. I talked about how people come to church and then miss a few weeks and get upset when no one calls to check up on them. If you think that my job is to come whenever you call or call whenever you don't show up and be your personal trainer and your spiritual police, you're in the wrong place. And if you think that's what you pay me to do - keep your money and go somewhere else.

There have been times in my ministry where I pridefully did all those things - took care of everyone. I took pride in working harder and longer, earlier and later than anyone. I would even be critical of larger churches and other Pastors, saying things like, "I bet that Pastor doesn't do everything I do. I bet he doesn't care for people like I do. I bet those people don't personally know their Pastor like my church does." God forgive me for my pride. I repent. No more. If lazy means saying no, then call me lazy. If lazy means taking a day off once a week, then call me lazy. If lazy means putting the needs of my wife and children above the church calendar, then call me lazy. If lazy means taking a vacation and missing a Sunday, then call me lazy. If lazy means not dying early of stress, hypertension, and high blood pressure, then by all means call me lazy.

We have a vehicle for love, care-giving, shepherding, teaching, and discipleship. It's called being connected in the community of a Small Group. If you miss a Sunday, they'll know you're not there. If you're in the hospital, I'll bet they'll come and visit you. They might even bring you a meal or two.

The new guy did tell me that at the end of my message, he understood what I was saying. It made sense. He even came back and volunteered. I was talking about all of us, everyone, being the church. Are you connected? Who are you loving, serving, and caring for? Who are you living out your faith with? I am learning that at times it seems easier to do it yourself. However, it is smarter, better, and Biblical for me build teams and equip others to serve.

Hey all,
Just a quick update on my question to Mark Driscoll. Currently it is in the top 9. I believe we are #4. You might be wondering why I would ask a question about baptism. The reason: Baptism is a topic that has divided the church for the last 500 years. Before the Reformation, baptism was considered for the forgivness of sins, and were one recives the gift of the Holy Spirit. This is view based off of Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16 and other Bible Verses. It also the view found in the Nicene Creed, and that of the Anti-Nicene Fathers. That is the view my church and millions of churches around the world and through out history hold. Today this view on baptism is very unpopular. Many churches do not teach on Romans 6, Acts 2:36, Acts 22:16, Col 2 or from the writings of Early Church (first 300 years) and/or look into the Jewish roots of baptism.

So no matter how feel about baptism please go and vote for my question. At the very least according to the rules, Pastor Mark Driscoll, will have have to answer it. At some point I will start to publish my research on the topic of baptism.

I Love Jesus

This last week I preached from John 12:1-11. It is the story of the Dinner Party held in Christ honor, before he enters Jerusalem for his final week on earth. Martha is serving people, Lazarus is telling people about what Jesus did for his life, and Mary is at the feet of Creator.

In reality this is a story of people who love Jesus. Martha serves others because she loves Jesus. Lazarus is a walking billboard of God's love and power, because he loves Jesus and Mary is washing her friends feet with expensive perfume, because she loves Jesus.

Most of the time growing up I remember hearing Jesus loves you, that's why we do this or that.

I want to change that idea. I love Jesus. I mess up, I sin, I make a mockery out of being a pastor, and I still love Jesus.

I love him, and that is why I serve him and his church. That is why I post on blogs, and counsel people. I love Jesus.

I love him and that is what affords me the opportunities to resist Satan, and fight temptation. I don't do certain things, because I love Jesus.

I love Jesus. I love that fact that when I fall. I can come to him and say "I'm sorry, please forgive me, help me. I can't do it on my own."

I love Jesus and it is the love that I have for him, that drives me to confess my sin, to read His word, to Sing his praises, and to share his love for me, and the Love I have for him with others.

"I love Jesus" - Let that be our rallying cry, let that be our motto, our mantra, when times are tough, and when times are great.

"I love Jesus"

I hope you do too.

Willow Creek Finally Get's It right?

For years I have been telling people, that church is not about programs it is abotu helping people discovery and self feed on Jesus. I was told that I was wrong, I was made fun of, mocked and riled.

My Dream Church has an Opening...

AND I AM NOT INTERASTED

Last night out I found out that my dream church will have an opening for their Preaching Minister. The man who has beenthere is great man of God. I know all the elders, and most of the other ministerial staff. I have preached at a church in the town that the man grew up. I preached at atown close to where he did his grad work, and I even attended my dream church and met my wife there.

But I don't want it. I want to stay where I am at, and enjoy my time here in Montana. I want to see how God continues to shape and lead this little church, into a church that is reaching our Valley for the Lord.

Yes, a bigger church might be nice. Yes, already having known all the elders, thier wives, teaching some of thier kids, and praying with these men would be wonderful. But, it is not Montana, and it is not about the size of your church, or you wallet.
It is about serving God where he has you.

And He has me at the best place I've ever been, surrounded by people that love me, and love my family. I love these people here. I love that as one my leaders put's it "Simple farmers" figuring out things.

In Ministry we wil always have places that "might be" That "what might of been", or "I hope someday". But we are asked to live for today, to serve God today, to shepherd Christ flock today, where HE has placed us to serve.

I might never have a church of a 1,000 or sell books, and bible studies. I might never hae a lot of recongination. But I have Jesus what else do I really need?

May our Lord and Savior bless you this day.

Understanding Women.

One of the hardest things for a man to understand is a woman. God has created us differently and with different roles within the family, the home, the church and society.
When it comes to a Godly Woman we easily point to the biblical standard of Proverbs 31, Eve was called a help mate, etc. You might not be a Proverbs 31 woman right now, but by God's love and Grace, he can transform into this type of woman. Men we need allow our wives to be this type of woman, and we must love her like Christ Loved the Church.
As many of you know I am straight shooter. I tell the truth in Love, and alot of times it comes out as tough love. One of my goals for this year is to be gentler Pastor. Most men like my straight forward no-nonsense approach it speaks to their inner warrior. We like Jesus the Hero. He died for other people. Women like the Jesus with the Children and Lamb of God. Both forget that Jesus in Revelation is shown as King and a Lamb is butchered, battered and in the end pronouncing judgement on people as they are eternally consumed in the fires of hell.

But back to my point. I have bought a book today, that I hope will help me better serve the women of my church. The book is called "What women wish Pastors Knew: Understanding the Hopes, Hurts, Needs and Dream of Women in the church"

I have feeling that I am going to learn a lot and get a little butt-kicking. At the end I believe I will be able to minister to the women of my church and community better. One of my goals it be a better all around pastor, as I serve Christ and His Church.

Good morning all,
I hope that you had a good Sunday, and that you found a place to worship and serve the Lord. I wanted to give you an update about about a new blog community I part of it is called "Centrist Christianity" http://centristchristianity.blogspot.com/
I am one of the writers of this blog that mixes points of views from different people in the Christian Walk. I will be bringing in a conservative leaning moderate point of view. My Theology is conservative, whiles others are not. There should be some good discussion and debates in the coming months.

Some people wonder why I use Imperfect Warriot, instead of my real name. It is for protection. I have herd too many stories of ministers churches being contacted about what thier pastor was writing on his blog or message boards. The leaders of my church know that where I blog and where I psot on forums. I am accountabel to these men, and to the Lord, my Savior. We do not need any trouble makers trying to do what they do best - cause trouble- in our place of worship. That is why I do not use my real name.

I will continue to try to update this blog weekly. Sorry abotu last week. THe in-laws were in, and I was busy with them, and my normal preacher duties.

We have new dog at our house. Sometimes I love this animal to death, and other times I want to put it to death. My daughters love their dog. Bizbee will follow my 4 year old around the yard, and loves to give her kisses. My 2 year old loves to tell Bizbee to sit, unfortunately it comes out "sh**" :(.

The best memory I have of Bizbee is her first Sunday living oat our house. We live on church property, so all we do is walk to church on Sunday mornings. We left Bizbee in the fenced yard, and thought that all is good. Later while I am doing announcements she come sin the front door, and down the aisle. Needless to say I Am little embarrassed. What I should of said is this "See we take coming so seriously at my house, even our dog gets it!"

I don't know if you belong to a church community. So of us have been burned bad, and others just have not gotten "into the habit". The reasons I like being part of community is because it helps this introvert to know people. Plus I like to sing, and preach the Good Word. I like to see haircuts,new clotes, smiling kids, catching up with people, and I enjoy the fellowship time before and after the service. I like listening to other people, their problems or joys and praying or praising with them.

It is cool. Even though there is a lot wrong with the church today (political wars, worship style wars, "righteous ACTS", people pleasing, It's about ME! and a bunch of other stuff). I can look around my church and see people, that I do not mind going to war for and with. I see that if I have need it will most likely be met (if I they know about it) and that I can learn from them, as they learn from me.

It is easy to look at all the bad stuff, maybe we need to change our focus and look at the good.

I watched the CMT show Dale the other night and it got me to thinking about what would people say about me after I died? Would I be known as a man that loved the Lord, loved his family and the people around him? Will I be known for being a world-wide known preachers? Not that I am one but who knows what God will do with my life.

We will all die someday. What we do with this life that God has given us will matter. Did I glorify God? Was I a good and faithful servant? That is what really matters. How did I show the Love I have for Jesus to other people?

The parts of the "Dale" show was when He won Talladega and was shouting "Praise God"! People knoew that Dale loved the Lord. Jesus and racign were big parts of his life. I think that si what made Dale a hero to me. He lived his life, and gave God the glory for his success.

It also reminded me of another hero of mine who once said "Everyman dies, not everyman really lives."

May our Lord shine brightly on you today.

Scott Biao is 45 and single

I like watching this show as it unfolds on VH1. Yes it is the same Scott Biao from Charles in Charge and Happy days.

Now after a life of partying and sleeping with ever female he could, he is realizing that it is time to grow up. One of his friends is married, and another is engaged. His other close friend is called Johnny V. The dude is like 55 - 70 and is still chasing after young women. It is apparent to the audience that Johnny Vis just using Scott to help him commit adultery with who-ever the woman of the night is. Nice Life.

Scott is trying to change his life. He wants to understand why he is unmarried at the age of 45. So Scott hired a life coach. She has told him to go back and talk to his former gf's. He has cheated on all of them (except the one he is with now, who he canot see for 8 weeks). As Scott is realizing that He needs to change, Johnny V is trying to keep Scott in the partying ways. The Life Coach has told Scott he needs to stop seeing Johnny V. Why? Because he keeps pulling Scott back into an unhealthily lifestyle.

The church of Corinth is told that "Bad Company corrupts good morals".

I wonder if now that we are walking in Christ, who are the people that are like Johnny V, not accepting that we are trying to change our lives to look like Jesus, and instead trying to pull back into a lifestyle that we know is unhealthily. Do you have people like this in your life? What are you doing about them? Are they the inner Circle that is corrupting your walk with Christ? Do you have friends that support your walk with Christ? How do your friends affect your walk with Christ?

Those are important questions to ask ourselves. Is this a healthy relationship for me to be in? Does this relationship help or hinder my walk wtih Christ Jesus?

If it is not helping your walk, then what are you doing it about?

Scott Biao told Johnny V, that he needs a break. Johnny (like any of us would) was upset, and started attacking Scott, and the Life coach. Scott finally walked up to Johnny and said "Stop breaking my balls about this" kissed him on the cheek and walked away.

It is not easy to walk away from people who you have loved for a long time. But, if they are corrupting your good morals it might be necessary. We are told that Christ is now our Life. We need to remember that, we were bought for a price, the death of Christ on the cross, and the reward is that HE LIVES and is coming back someday for us!

Who’s your Daddy? John 8:37-47

Introduction:
· Which parent do you look more like?
· Your mom or your dad?
· Who do you act like?
· Most of us pick up tendencies from watching our parents.
· How we talk, different facial gestures,
· Even how we pronounce words.
· The title of this week’s sermon.
· Who’s your daddy?
· It is a very important question to ask.
· Who is my daddy?
· Who do I look like, whom do I sound like?
· How do I resemble my father?
· Can you tell by looking at me that I am father son?
· When you get to meet my earthly Father Paul,
· You will get to see some resemblance.
· When you look at my girls, you know that they are mine.
· Like the girls look like me, and sometimes even act me.
· We need to be the same thing.
· With our Heavenly Father.
· People are going to judge God by the way we behave.
· Just like people judge us, on the way our kids behave.
· So who’s your daddy?

· Is he rich like me?
· How well do you know the Father?
· Jesus makes it clear in the section of Scripture either you’re a child of God, or you are a child of Satan.

39 They answered him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’ Children, you would be doing what Abraham did, 40 but now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did. 41 You are doing what your father did.” They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father----- even God.” 42 Jesus said to them, “If God was your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me. 43 Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is lair and the father of lies. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. 46 Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? 47 Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.

1.Jesus draws a dividing line:
· Remember last week, how the Jews were saying they were offspring of Abraham?
· Jesus does not argue with them.
· He says I know that you are the offspring of Abraham.
· Notice that he does not say that they are children of Abraham.
· He says offspring.
· He means offspring.
· Children have relationships and follow their parents.
· Offspring.
· You might come from the same seed, but that does not mean that you are close.
· Yes these men are part of the nation of Israel.
· Yes, Abraham is the father the Judaic faith,
· But they are not following it, nor do they have the faith like Abraham.
· It’s someone calling him or her a Christian, but not living it.
· We have a world for that we call them hypocrites
· You might say you’re a Christian.
· But are you living it?
· It’s easy to say you believe
· Do your actions, words, and thoughts back it up?
· Can people tell that you follow the Father?
· And this is what Jesus is getting at.

“Your offspring of Abraham, yet you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you”

· We know that through Mosaic Law that we are not supposed to murder people.
· Yet that is what they want to do.
· To murder Jesus.
· Because they are not hearing the words, in their hearts.
· They might hear them in their ears.
· But that is the last place they are going, because they are not open to hear from God.
· They do not like what God is saying to them.
· There are times in our lives that we do not like what God saying to us, and that is time for you to repent.
· Because God is right and we are wrong.
· And what we are about to see is a classic of example of people dealing with the truth in their lives.
· They accept it, and change their lives to it.
· They will fight it and find any reason to ignore it.
· Much like I did about worshipping with instruments.
· They will put up defensives and start attacking the person that brings the truth of who they’re to them.
· Jesus does not let them live in their fantasy world about who their true father is, and he will not lets live in ours either.

2 So Jesus shows the line of which daddy do you follow?
I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you heard from your father

· Notice the difference in your bibles. My Father has a capitol F, while your father has small f.
· This is giving God the proper respect he deserves.
· The difference is amazing,
· Jesus is telling them once again, I speak what I have seen with my FATHER
· That means that Jesus is spending time with God, that He is Encountering God.
· Then he tells them you do what you heard from your father.
· Meaning the DEVIL!
· Act like the Devil, talk like the devil, then you belong to the devil.

39 They answer him “Abraham is our father” Jesus said to them, “If your were Abraham’s children, you be doing what Abraham did, but now seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham did. 41 You are doing what your father did.

· We have to see what Abraham did
· He followed God.
· He left home and family to follow God.
· He was willing to offer up his son Isaac as a sacrifice.
· Trusting that God, who gave him a son in his old age, could fulfill the promise of many descendants.
· I guess God will just bring him back to life.
· He is God after all, and can do what he wants.
· He created this world; he can choose who lives and who dies.
· And he can bring people back from the dead if he wants to.
· Abraham followed God, even when he did not understand everything was going on.
· We need to do the same things.
· My Friend Pastor Wayne used to tell me this all the time.
· Mike sometimes God moves to point A, to B, to point C, just to prepare us for point D.
· Do I wish that I went through all of the garbage in Texas and NM NO!
· I don’t wish that on anyone.
· Legalistic, non-scripture following supposed Christ followers
· Churches built on man, instead of Jesus.
· No way.
· But knowing that I had to go through that to get here.
· Looking back it is well worth it.
· Did not like it going through it,
· Still healing from some of it
· Just some of you are still healing from the garbage that has happened here.
· When we look back at life, God takes through a variety of things to prune us, to teach us lessons, show our hearts and to draw us closer to Him.
· How we react in this situations that show other and us people who we truly belong to.
· Are we turning to God and trying to look like Jesus?
· Or do we look more Satan
· Do people see Jesus alive and well in us, or do see the very sins
· That we are told separate us from God?
· That Jesus died on the cross to set us free from?
· It’s what we talked about last week.
· Are you controlled by Christ Jesus or by sin?
· Jesus came to set us free from sin,
· And we should strive to live like it.
· Instead of listening to Jesus and the proper response of repenting of their sin.
· They do the classic cowardly move and
· They decide to attack Jesus

41b They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father –even God”.
· This is an attack on the character of Jesus
· It is what people do.
· It is wrong and yet it still happens today.
· You don’t like what someone says to you.
· So you attack them.
· Try to discredit them, instead of facing your issues
· Here they are attacking Jesus claiming that he does not know who his daddy is, because Mary had a child before Joseph slept with her.
· They do not believe in Christ divine origin.
· Slow they try to slap him in the face with the worldly views that your mom is an adulterer and your dad a fool.
· But Jesus is talking about Spiritual things.
· We are spiritual beings, and too often we let this world dictate what we believe and what we do.
· We allow the influence of Satan and the world to form us, instead of God the Father.
· We need to remember that while we live in this world, IT is not our home, and we are just passing through.

3. How to know; who your father is.
42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and I am here. I came not of my own accord, but he sent me”

· This is real simple:
· If God is your Father, you would love me.
· If God is not your Father, you do not love me.
·
· Kind of like
· If you abide in my word you are my disciples
· If you don’t abide in my word you are not my disciples
·
· Those who are baptized will be saved.
· Those who are not baptized will not be saved?
·
· We can do that with a lot of scripture
· If you love Jesus you keep his commandments.
· If you don’t love Jesus, you won’t keep them.
· It’s the process of asking a question. “And if I don’t, what happens”
· It’s a debate practice. Let’s take this to polar opposite and see what it says.
· We do this with the commands and teachings of Jesus, it is pretty scary
· If I don’t forgive other, I won’t be forgiven.
· And Jesus is talking them to Polar opposite of God being their Father.
· He is taking them to truth that their actions and thoughts lead to the fact that Satan is their father.
· They think that God is their Father, but in reality they act more like Satan than God.
· The old saying. “The apple does not fall from the tree” applies here.
· And it should be wake up call for us.
· Because we are told that we are going to be judged, that our idle words are going to be brought into judgment
· And we serve a just God.

43 Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

· Jesus makes it clear that the reason they do not understand his words
· Is because their father is the devil.
· How would you feel if someone said that you?
· Seriously how would you feel
· If someone who has healed people in front of you, who has over turned tables, who people have tried to arrest, and they do not.
· Stands in front of you and says you do not understand me, because you are children of the Devil?
· You do not understand the things of God, because you are not his child.
· Because you are a child of the devil.
· And this is what he looks like.
· He is a murderer
· He wants nothing to do with truth, because it is not in him
· He is liar – it is his character.
· He is the Father of lies.
· That is what Satan looks like.
· He also is described as roaring lion, looking for someone to devour
· That is how Satan is describe a lying, murderer who is hungry to devour others.
· Nice guy, yet many people in the church look more like him, then they do Jesus Christ.
· It is estimated by “The Way of the Master” only about 10% of the people sitting in the pews on Sunday mornings
· Are honestly following Jesus.
· That means that 90% of the people keeping a pew warm, are not thinking like Jesus,
· And are not “Always doing the things that are pleasing to God”
· That Scares ME!
· IT should scare you.
· Because you are either part of the 10& or you are part of 90%
· And God knows, and other people do to by your actions, words, and deeds who you really belong too.
· People much like these Jews who claim to be religious, who claim to follow Jesus.
· Have murderous hearts
· They want their own ways, and they will do whatever it takes to get their own way.
· In the Book of James we are told that is why we have quarrels and fights in the church.
· To the point of death.
· People want what they want, not caring about what the Bible says, or the under shepherds of the church have to say.
· They do not even listen to the Sr. Pastor of church – Jesus Christ has to say about things.
· They forget that church is not about them.
· It’s about Jesus.
· And our lives transforming to become more like his.
· People lie, it’s the same thing that Satan did to Adam and Eve.
· Go ahead and eat the fruit.
· Nothing will happen to you.
· God is lying you won’t taste death.
· He just does not want you to be as smart or wise as him.
· And that is what Satan is doing today.
· He is still lying to us.
· That sin that is controlling your life.
· It doesn’t matter.
· Of course the bible really doesn’t mean what it says.
· Everybody is doing it.
· You don’t want to be considered a Jesus freak do you?
· Nobody will know.
· Just do it once it won’t anything.
· The Bible is just another book.
· Jesus wasn’t real.
· All good people go to heaven.
· Those are all lies of Satan.
· And he is good at it.
· We forget that he wants to destroy us.
· That Satan is Lair; there fore he lies to us.
· He lies to the world.
· And the only way to combat lies and liars is with the truth.
· And that truth is Jesus Christ.
· We need to make sure that we are listening to Jesus and not Satan.
· Because What Goes into the Mind, comes out in the Life.
· And quite frankly, what comes out of mouths, according to Jesus is what is in our hearts
· The world needs people with the love of Jesus coming out of the mouth, not the lies of Satan.
· We need to be a people,
· Who are about the truth of Jesus Christ.
· That shows the world through our actions and our words the Love of Jesus Christ.
· If we are not showing them Jesus whom are we showing them?
· Because if we are not showing them the truth, then we must be showing them something that is corrupted by the devil
· Or the devil himself.
· And Jesus nails them with this.
· He has already told them that their real father is the devil, and not God so he continues on.
· Challenging them on who they listen too

4. The final dagger
“But because I tell you the truth, you do not believe me. 48 Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? 47 Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason you do not hear them is that you are not of God.”

· How do you personally respond to that?
· Basically Jesus is saying, “You listen to lies, and refuse to believe the truth.”
· The sad part there are million of people that claim to follow Christ Jesus that are so used to garbage
· They are offended by God’s word, and refuse to follow the Bible, and settle for the teachings of man.
· We are not called to follow man; we are called to follow Jesus.
· And when we have a hard time following Jesus,
· We need to turn to him for help, not discount him.
· We need to say “Jesus can you help here?
· Please help me.
· Jesus telling the truth should put us on notice.

Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason you do not hear them is that you are not of God.”
· Which lead me to ask this question.
· Are you honestly hearing the words of God?
· Are you listening to what God is saying to you?
· Are you following What God is saying?
· Because if we are of God,
· Then we hear God.
· And if we are not God.
· Then we are not hearing God.
· And that scares me to death to think that people who are part of my flock.
· Are not hearing God.
· That they are listening to the lies of Satan, and following after his teachings.
· Instead of the truth of Jesus Christ, and becoming followers of Jesus Christ.
· In the end it does matter who you follow.
· In the end you will either be with Satan in the lake of burning sulfur
· Or you will be dancing with Jesus.
· Those are the two choices,
· There is no door number #3.
· There is no “Do over”
· It’s either you lived for Jesus, or followed the lies of the devil.
· I ask you today
· Are you living for Jesus,
· Are you transforming to look more like him
· Or are you listening to and following the lies of Satan?
· If you are listening to Satan.
· Then stop it.
· Seek help; get support, pray until something happens.
· Ask Christ for forgiveness.
· Put a stake in the ground and say with all of you being
· Today I will follow Jesus and stop following Satan.
· Today and everyday for forward I will follow Jesus.
· And I will look like my Father in heaven.
· In the words of Joshua “choose this day whom you will serve, as for me and my house we will serve the Lord”
· And because we are serving the lord, we will look more like Jesus, then the Father of Lies, and the devil.

This letter was written to me and others from a friend of mine. He is over in Iraq helping our forces defend the US, and to bring Liberty and freedom of religion over in the Middle East. Please continue to pray for the brave men and women who are over there, no matter your views on this war.

hey, what's up?

So, may I tell you a story? As you know I'm in Iraq fighting for America's interests, freedom, especially the freedom to worship God freely. I'm a combat medic and have the responsibility of maintaining my guys' health. This is one of my stories:

One night I was called to go downstairs and meet an Iraqi soldier who was having an unknown medical issue. As I wait I see 4 Iraqi Army (IA) soldiers carrying one of their own who seems to be somewhat combative. So much so that we needed 4 guys to hold him down while I evaluated him. 2 things came to mind and were brought up as suggestions as to what the problem may be: epilepsy or seizures,or tetanus. At this time the man was young and most likely in his mid 20's struggling against all of us. Shouting things in Iraqi that I couldn't comprehend. I did my evaluation and found no physical signs of bruising, cuts, open wounds, etc. And I asked how many times this has happened. His captain stated that this is the second episode. The first episode happened 15 days ago. And I asked if he has been in any accidents that may cause head trauma and seizures. He has been in a car accident, but it was the morning of the same day he was brought to me. So trauma to the head couldn't have been the cause. Nor tetanus because his joints were not locking up. As obviously stated, he was freely combative, either indirecly of directly at us. Vitals were normal for someone under stress . . . . .

To make a long story short, I came to the conclusion that he was possessed. He was making gestures suggesting that he couldn't breath, but he could shout. He was definitely struggling at something. So 20 minutes into it I was praying, and praying loud. Now during this time my comrades outspokenly suggested that this guy must be faking it big time to get out of this place. I would agree with them if they could explain to me why his pupils are dilated for the most part of the ordeal. We held him down for a good 1 1/2 hr before he fully came to and was able to stand up on his own. With my LIMITED medical knowledge I couldn't find anything wrong with him. He was normally working the next day.

I asked one of our chaplains what he thought. He agreed. And believe me, I would rather believe that he was faking it. I've never experienced anything supernatural in my life and never wanted to. I'm not afraid to say that I'm a freakin fraidy cat when it comes to ghosts and demons etc. Ask my mom and sis ^_^.

Just wanted to share that. I don't know why God of all places and time to let me experience that but His will be done. I am now more ridiculed because of what happened. Mocked behind my back. But hey, oh well, God is good. If these are the things that God is preparing me for, then I really don't wanna know what happens next. 'sigh'. . .

So please pray for me. I'm trying hard and have finally decided to follow the path God laid for me. (mumbles: which kinda sucks for a lot of things . . . haha, oh well) ^_^. Take care and God bless.

Hosea: 6:6, Matt 9:13, 12:7 "I desire mercy than burnt offerings" = He said it twice in Matthew so far, as I'm reading the book. How many times we offer ourselves, our tithes, our gifts to God, but fail to show kindness, love, mercy to others? Especially those people that have angered us, friends who've hurt us, betrayed us, poor people who asked for something to eat, our ex's, co-workers, supervisors who constantly raise our blood pressure. How can I go to church and put it tithes and sings songs of praise and worship when just the day before I could've have shown kindess to THAT person. But who knows right? That could'nt have been Jesus. Jesus wouldn't come to us as a poor man or woman or lost child, just to find out what's really in our hearts.

Many of us, soldiers, hate these people who kill not only us but their own. But I can't, and I won't becuase they need Jesus more than I do.

Need Some of this.

Wow,
What great two weeks I had at camp. 3 Kids had their sins washed away as they were baptized into Christ Jesus, and about 5 others are talking with their families, and pastors about giving their life Christ.

As I sit here today, I am tired and worn out. I have two weeks of office stuff to catch up on, and the heat is draining the life out of me. I did not move to the great NW to be in 100+ degree weather.

I also feel a lot like Elijah. I need some inspiration. I have visited blogs I enjoy, and even listened to a sermon. Still I am wanting more. I feel lonely, and a little depressed. Yesterdays; sermon was about Abiding in Christ, and that Jesus set us free from sin. It seemed to hit people in the heart.I think thatI am just in funk like Elijah was after Mt. Carmel. I know God loves me, that My church loves me, and that I was used for the last two weeks to share the Good news of Jesus Christ with a bunch of kids ranging from 4-9Th grade. Shouldn't that be enough?

I mean I've been used by God to touch his people, and yet today I am looking to be touched myself. I want to be inspired, I want to uplifted, and challenged. I want to feel Jesus in new ways. I want to be used for the kingdom, and yet I feel that I am alone out here in God's country.

One warrior, fighting the battle against Satan and his dark forces. One Warrior looking around to see who will join him, and then being reminded that God is in the gentle whisper. That HE has called others to stand and fight beside me, behind me, and in front me.

I am not alone.

I am a warrior, who is fighting a battle to show the love of Jesus into the darkness of this world.

I am a warrior commissioned by the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, to battle against the lies of the Evil one.

I am a warrior whose outpost is in the wilderness, and yet has support of other warriors around this world.

I am a warrior, an imperfect Warrior, who is trying to please his King.

I am an imperfect Warrior of the Cross of Christ Jesus. I stumble, I fall and I get on my knees and pray, and the Lord sends me out once again to do battle, because He has designed me, to be a Warrior.

The Problem with the Church

Before we begin I want to let you know that I will be gone for the next 2 weeks. The Joys of summer camp. While I might be able to post, please do not count on anything from for the next two weeks.

I think I have figured out atleaset the heart of the issue, of why there are some many problems with our churches. People have stopped wanting to be like Jesus. We look and act more the world than we do the man who died on the Cross for our sins.

This needs to stop. Where there is gossip,lies and slander- we need to praise, where there is hatred, anger, we need to love and where thier is sexually impurites- we need to become pure. The world looks at the church and says "HYPOCRITS!". They are right, they see the exact same thigns from Christ' followers that themselves are doing. "Why would I worship Jesus, if you are no better than I am? If you behave the way that I do?"

That is not what we are suppossed to be doing, we are suppossed to be like Jesus, not the town drunk, wifebeater, gossip, theif, liar etc.

My Question for you this week is "Do I look more like Jesus or do like the world?"

Time for a change

I have been thinking that I need to change something to this blog, in my life. As many know that I am a pastor. One thing that many of us forget is Holy Living. Are we practicing it? are we challenging and encouraging our flocks to be Holy? Do Christ-followers even want to be Holy?

I believe that we have settled to be "good enough". To be more somewhere in the middle between the world and Christ. "If I look too much like Christ, then people will find me weird" and the idea of "I became all things to all people, so that I might save a few" becomes our mantra.

While we need to share the love of Jesus with everyone, we do not need to become everyone or walk like everyone. I do not need to sell my body on the streets on to share Jesus love with a street walker. I do not need to get high on crack, to show a crack addict, that he is destroying his life. What I need to do is to learn to see people as God sees them.

Are they His child? Do they want to be His Child? Have they ever been his child, and now are out walking in the wilderness?Does God want me to share His love to them or has God decided to give them over to their own desires (Romans 1). How can I show them Christ' love? Getting high won't help out, sleeping with them won't help out, condemning them won't help out.

What will? Getting them to know them, hearing their story, and sharing with them our story, our faith walk with the Holy One of God, the One who releases us from our bondage and our sins.

The challenge is doing this, while staying pure, set apart, while being an alien, a stranger in this land, to make sure that I do not become corrupted my self.

As we share the Love of Jesus with others, let us remember that the same love that saved me, is the same love that wants me to be Holy.

Sorry for Skipping out on you last week.

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been thinking about "What might of Been". Every once in a while I wonder what would of happened in my life, If I would of stayed in Nashville, TN instead of moving to AZ and then to Seattle. I wonder who I would of married, and what I would be doing. Would I have kids, a dog? Would my friend Jon, his wife and I, still be building Lighting Design Concepts, would we be working with Ardre Design Group or would I be workign wtih Tennessee Coffee Comapny?

Part fo thinking of what of been brings me to think of my college frieds. Espcailly the Posse. Two of my closest friends in the world (besides my wife)are found in this group of people:, Lisa, La, Marla, Steph, Duff, Brady, Kim, Dana, Crag and a few others. Dana has cool website that I need to add to my links. It's called "Think Pink" She is a cancer survior, and shares her and Craigs Story.

The one person that I have kept up with the most is Lisa. Her and I e-mail back and forth every once in a while. We were extremly close in college and we shared apartment when we lived in Seattle. If it was not for Lisa I doubt I would of ever gotten to Seattle and meet my wife Heidi. Even though she is a teacher at Private School on the other side of the country, she is still on of my closest friends. It is cool to see the changes in our realtionship through out the years. From two people doing theater together, to each others counselor, and now we live across from each other. She is a teacher in a private school in the Carolinia's and happily married, and I am a pastor in the Great North West. Over the years we have become more like brother and sister, then just friends. Someday I look forward to visiting back east and meeting her husband and friends.

Another of my closest friends in the group in La. La is just one those specail people in my life. She us funny, good humored and put up with a lot of garbage that life and I threw at her. Along with Lisa, she is one of the people that kept somewaht sane during my adventures in Nashville. I think at one point everybody expected us to be married. At think at couple of different points in out lives, if we would of started dating instead of just being great friends, we would be married, or ruined a great friendship. La is married to wonderful guy named Jon, they are living in Tennessee and have one daughter. I love Jon, and he and I were good friends during our time togethers.

I cannot be more happy ofr La and John and Lisa and her man; It's just every once in while I think "What might of been?"

Where would I be if I never left Nashville? What would of happened if I dateed Lisa or La? Honestly I most likly would be working for a stage-lighting or scene design company. I might of gotten into radio work, or something else to do with big events(concerts, theatre productions, movies, etc). I do not know if I would of even been a youth minister, or church planter and now the pastor of a great small church in the Mission Valley of MT. I know I would of not met my bride Heidi (8 years in July), and have two wonderful daughters, that run up and hug me when I get home from the office. I doubt that I would be blogging and meeting intersating people on the OOZE and CCT. I doubt that I would be able to speak the Word of God, with the freedom I now enjoy (1 hour this last Sunday). We rent pillows for our youth fund raiser. :)

Even though I loved my past working with shows, and I dearly love Lisa and La. Sometimes it is hard not to think about what might of been. I think that sometimes we are all like that. "what if" and it is at this time that I need to remember to count my blessings of WHAT IS . I can't live in the past and continue to wonder "what if" and "what might have been's", because our God has called me to live in the present, to press on to the goal, and to be used for His Kingdom; NOW!

As the Apostle Paul states " I have forgotten the past, and press on to the goal." My goal is to get to heaven, and to be used by God to preach his word, to be Holy, to write devotionals, to sing his praises, and equip his saints to walk the Narrow Road.

While I love my posse and all that they bring to enrich my life, I need to remember that they are a huge blessing from God , to show me how much I am loved by Him.

To the Posse I love you guys, and canot wait to sepnd time with you again. If I have to wait until heaven, than I better see you there. :) To everyone else I hope that while loving people from the past, will learn to count your blessing's of today, and lets' not wonder "what of been"

I think there is important message to this. Jesus did not come preaching a gospel of hating your brother. In fact we are told in 1 John 2:9 (NIV)"Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness."

Jesus draws us to love people. We might disagree with them, we might have different doctrines them and different faith journeys on our walk with Jesus. But that does not give us the excuse to hate others.

The church especially my movement has been earned the reputation that we do not love others. We hate other demo nations,and that we are the only ones going to heaven. To me that sounds more like hate, than love.

God loves the whole world. Jesus died for the sins of the World, not just yours, not just mines. Are doctrine important? Yes, and I believe that we need to find those doctrines from the Bible, not from what some man or woman wrote down.

However the two greatest commandments are to "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind... and to Love your neighbor as yourself." All the Law and prophets hang on these two commandments." - Matthew 22:37-40

I think we should spend more time Loving God and loving each-other, than we do ignoring God as we fight each-other.

I hope that you are having a good week,

Have you ever noticed that the world is always changing? It is spring time here in God's country. On Sunday we had Temperatures in the 90's. Today it is raining and we are in the 50's-60's. This time last year I was living in Oregon in unfinished house, and unemployed. This year I am in new state, with a great church. Including myself I know about 5-10 guys that are either in new ministries this year, or not in the ministry all together. Change is happening everywhere.

My 23 month old daughter the other day came running our of her room in the morning giggling, as she did not have to wait on my wife or eye to get her out of the crib. It was the first time she slept in her bed. She now knows a since of freedom, that she never knew before. She is even trying to go potty on the potty instead of in diapers.

Change is happening all the time around us. Look at Gas prices if you don't believe me. However there is one thing stays the same. Jesus Christ. Do you know him?

There is a song by the group Tesla called "changes". It is describing how changes mess up our lives, how they re-arrange our lives. It's also a love song. I hope you enjoy it.

Changes are happen all around us. When I first heard that song, I was in the backseat of my brother's Camero. We were teenagers and did not get along then. 20 years later we get along and have no idea what happened to that old brown Camero.I drive a Sidekick,and he drives a Dodge Truck. We are both married, have families and we live in different states. Changes they are everywhere. They mess with our lives, they rearrange our lives. One of our young families from the church is moving this summer. They have lived here for over 10 years. Changes are happening everywhere.One of missionaries is coming back to the states, and it looks like they will be here for a year.

Jesus creates change in our lives. He likes to re-arrange our lives that put him as the focal point. He desires to be our lives, to be our North star, to be our compass, to be our Lighthouse and our GPS.

We are told in Colossians (mike's Paraphrase chapter 3) to put to death the following things: Sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, lust, greed, anger, wrath, malice slander and obscene talk from our mouths. Instead we should put on compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience. He desires us to change so that we look more Jesus. As we walk with the Lord, we need to die to ourselves, and change. We should look more Jesus day after day, year after year, then we do the person that sells herself on the street corner for drugs, or the man who beats his wife and kids. Shoot we should act more like Jesus than the people we are shown in the TV shows we watch. Changes, they are everywhere, just look at the weather, look at your own life. There are changes in it.

If you know my King, then you know that He wants to change you, to mold you, to make you into something more beautiful than the mountains or the sea. He wants to make you and me, like Him; He desires that when the world sees us, It sees Jesus.

We need to allow Jesus to change us, so that we can share the one thing that doesn't change: his unchanging love to the world that desperately needs it.

Have you ever read part of the Bible and thought "Do i really have to do that?", "Is that Really what God means?" "Why would God put that in there?" and of course "The Bible is talking to somebody els, I KNOW it's not talking to me!"

Unfortunalty for a lot of us when the Bible speaks we forget to listen. We forget to change, we forget to repeant, we forget that God reveals Himself to us through His Word. We like to pick and choose the parts that we read, that memeorize and that we follow. We like to be in charge and to control things.

However the joke is on us. We would be running around naked if God did not event animal skins,plants, cotton and sythentic fibers to be woven together so we could have clothes. We forget that we are dependant on Him. If don't forget we ignore that He gives every good perfect gift from above.

A passage I want to look at today found in Mark 16:15 "go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever beleives and is baptised will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemmed -NIV

Those are strong, authoritative words from Jesus about what the apostles need to be practising and teaching. I have had indebt conversations with a variety of people concerning the purpose of baptism in the recent months. When I point this scripture plus numerous others that show baptism is important and part of the salvation process: hear, believe, repent and baptism (Acts 2:38, Mark 1:4),plus submitting to and following Jesus, his teachings, and the bible. People have become violent towards me and the word of God.

It has lead me to write a paper (13 pages so far. Just started Pauls writings) about the historical (Jewish and EArly Church) and Scriptual Practice of Immersion. From the time of Exodus to 1st century Palastine and still today. What Peter preached in Acts 2:37-41, and what Paul Practised in Acts 22:16 is the proper view of baptism. It is to wash away our sins, and purify us before our God, plus the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Some would say that baptism is work according to John 6:29 "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.

If Faith is work, then everything else we do is our response in love and submission to Jesus.

If he is Lord and Savior, then we need to serve and submit to Him as our Lord and savior.

A lot of my Cyber friends are ministers. As many of you know We are a unique group of individuals, with different talents, and ablities. A friend of mine "The other RWarren" is at new church this week. Many of us are at new churches within the last 2 years. A lot of the guys that I spend time with in the Mission Valley are new to the area. God is moving in our churches. He is bringing new life and new blood to HIS churches. However one thing reamins the same, there are some of our fellow warriors, that are churches that are hurting them.

I am the first to say that not all pastors are good men, and that there are some guys who never need to step foot in the pulpit or ministry again. This is not about them.This about the ones that are there to be servant leaders, and love their God, and thier thier flocks. This poem was given to me as I was serving at a church in turmoil, with satan attacking the leaders, with people who claimed to follow Christ Jesus and thier fruits proving otherwise.

Touch Not My Anointed

He gives us Apostles, prophets and pastors,
Evangelist and some who teach,
so we saints can grow in Him

Anointed and called by Almighty God,

In the Book of Hebrews we read "Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you" 13:7 ESV

Are you a person that encourages your minister, and leaders or a person that tears them apart? Do you encourage and support them or are nervous when you come around? What type of person do you think they think you are?

I called a former a church last week, just to talk and pray for the man who replaced me. His first words "What happened to this church"? and after we talked for over and hour, I could tell he was breaking down as we prayed. A Man of God needing love from the people that he was serving and leading. Unfortunatly, He is not alone. There are many that are called "Pastor", who are alone, and hurting. Who have been struck, beaten and destroyed by the very person Jesus died for.

This week please, please, please lift up your leaders in prayer and support them by your words, actions and deeds. Don't caste stones at them, Pray for them!

I am imperfect and I serve Jesus and his people.

The Wii saved my marriage

After saving up, and researching different games consoles my family and I bought a Nintendo Wii. My X-box died, and it was time for us to invest in game system that we all could play and that required you to move around. Last nigt we boxed, played Tennis, and baseball for 3 hours. The whole family was involved including the 4 and 18 month old.

Why do I say it saved my marriage? Becasue it gives a nother thing to do togeter as a family. No longer will sit there and play by myself. Now I can enjoy teaching, adn watching others play as I rest from the excercise I am actually getting. Not a lot, but more than just sitting on the duff and playing.

Plus we can teach life lessons abotu loosing, sharing, and takign turns. And there is nothing funnier than watching our 4 year old throw a fast ball, and have her cheer when the batter hits a home run.

The Most Beautiful Sound

I have decided what I beleive to the worlds best sound. It is better than the kiss of newlyweds, or a baby cooing while it is being snuggled. The voice of long lost friend or relative. compares to nothing. The Birds singing, and the symphanies we find nature are nowhere compared to this sound. It's even better than the saints singing praises to our God and King. The sound:

It is when God's people open their bibles. I love when I hear Bibles opening. I love the sound of the pages rustling, the sound of bible covers opening. I love the sound of relief when someone finds the verse, and the sound the pages make when you flip through the Bible.

Why do I love the sound of the Bible being opened? Because it means we are getting ready to hear from The HOLY. It means that people are interasted in hearing from God, and not jsut being force fed by thier pastor. In a day where we can have our Bibles on MP3', CD's online, and verses shot on the screen behind me. There is still no greater joy then hearing God's people open God's book.

Surprise your pastor this week and on Sunday open your Bible. Have your whole church open thier Bibles. Enjoy the sound of God's book being open, as his people begin to feed on His Holy Word

One of the reasons I like this song is because it ties into a message of Jesus. We need to follow the Father. We need to submit the Father, to honor the Father. On Jesus' last night on before he was killed, he ask God to take this cup from me, and then prayed "Not my will, but your will be done."

I beleive that is a message that all Christ followers need to take to heart. Not my will, but God's will be done. We want to join Him in what HE is doing, not try to force Him to join us.

Show me your way Oh Lord, Show me your ways, so that I might walk with.

What have we come to?

As many of you now Anna Nicole Smith is no longer with us. She was Playboy modle, actress, and reality show Star. Plus is known for gaining and shedding wieght. Needless to say her life was pretty messed up. This past week has been filled with whois her baby's father?

How sad is that? In a world where people are starving, where people are being kicked out fo thier homes, familes are breakign up, and school kids need to wear bullet proof vest; what we see on the "news" is about a lady who slept around, and had a child out of wed-lock, and nobody knew who the real daddy was. At one point in our society she would of been an outcast, and looked down on. Today she is celebrated. The Baby's father is a former boyfriend. At least this child will know it's dad. Unfortunitly it will only know it's mom, by the morally challenged news stories and pictures that are Anna Nicoles Legacy.

When we speak and act, we really need to think about how this will affect others. A lesson I wished I learned earlier in my life, and one that I am still learning.

God,
Grant me the wisdom to see the outcome of my actions, and the knowledge to keep my mouth shut!

I like to pick up hitch hikers. I really do. Most of friends and family think that I am nuts. They might be dangerous., they might try to hurt you, kill you. One of my friends even stated something like this: " It is better to be a live preacher, than I dead martyr." I like the idea of being in heaven, especially on the days my lower back is killing me.

I have picked up college kids, WTO protesters, and just your average daily nomad. Last summer I went for drive down the Oregon coast, and there was this nice older guy who need a lift. He had a walking stick, and big backpack. Plus it he was about to have to climb over some mountains. So is a Christian to do? Help people. I turn around and pick him up.

He is a nice older man, who was left some money and had a disability were he could not hold down a job, so he decided to travel by foot across America. He had been doing it for something like 20 years. He likes the alone time, and the time he get to meet new people, and hear their stories.

Tuesday I picked up a Nomad again. Her name is Tracey and she is Christian. We had a nice talk about the different places she has been, what God has done in her life, how he has kept her safe on her travels, and that now she feels it is time to settle down, and make amends with her 19 year old son. I stop off at McDonald's bought her some food, and then dropped her off about 70 miles south of where I picked her up. Prayed for her safety and travels and then left her at a spot for the night.

The question I always go back too (after I pray) is what if they are angels?

So who ever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

and we all know Jesus' teaching on loving others as we want to be loved.

I am not saying that everybody should pick up hitch-hikers. I always pray first to make sure it is the right thing to do. I do not want some demon-manic in my car with a chain saw, or and aids laced needle. What I want to do is help out my fellow man, and show them the love, life and light of Jesus Christ; in world filled with too much darkness.

Howdy,
Sorry it has been such a long time since I have posted. I will try to post at least once a week by
Thursday.

I often imagine myself having a conversation with God. We talk about different things and I usually end up confession my sins. He is good like that, able to listen and show love when we mess up. Lately one part of the conversation always turns to "what do you want?" " I want wisdom, I want a heart that belongs to you, I want to know more, I want your words written on my heart, protection for my church and family. I want my church to grow, and I want new people to come to Christ Jesus." " I want people to see Jesus in me"

"What do you want?"
Today it finally hit me "I want to be great in your eyes". I don't have to the next Milt Jones, Max Lucado, Billy G, Rick Warren, Bob Russel, Mark Driscoll or Brian McClaren. What I want is to be great in your eyes. For you to say "This is my Son, whom I love, good job, my good and faithful servant"

I think the most we can ask for is to be used by God, for His Kingdom. Not to settle to settle for "status quo", but to strive to be great in the eyes of our Creator.

My Wife now has a mini-van

I thought the day would never come. I hoped, I prayed that this day would never come. Was not turning 35 not bad enough for me? Are not grey hairs, and starting to loose my vision penance for my past sins?

I guess not. Today my wife has traded her car for the dreaded mini-van. She smile's, I cry. Our kids are not even old enough to play soccer, and yet there it sits under our carport. What will the neighbors say? What will the church members think? Can I ever look at some of my friends that hunt in the eye again? Who knew my middle age crisis would involve a mini-van? I always thought that a Porsche would help me handle turning old. Alas, there it is. I pinch myself nad I still do not wake up. Please can anyone help me?

We are like water, turned into Wine

Yesterday I spoke on Jesus' first miracle: Changing Water into wine. You can read the biblical account in John chapter 2.

I find it amazing that Jesus took something as plain as water. As common as water and made it into the "good wine" of the wedding feast. How good was it? It was better than what was originally thought to be the best wine.

The neat thing is; He wants to do the same thing with our lives. Change them! Here is water everyday water, not bottled, not flavored, not even some lemon in it to help out the taste, Just water, and zap he changes it to wine. Do you realize that Jesus wants to do that to your life? That He wants to change you. To take away the dirt, the grime, the fear, the loneliness, the pain of rejection, the stress, the struggles, the things that go bump in the night. He died to take those away from you. To say "I've got you back".

Daily Jesus takes drug dealers and changed them
He takes the addict and heals the hole that is in the souls.
He takes the beaten women, and shows her how a man is supposed to treat a woman.
He takes the Lost and says "oyu are found"
Takes the forgotten and shows them love and that they are not forgotten
He takes you and me and says " I love you so much, I want to change you , so that you resemble me." Why? because people need Jesus!

The complete basis of why we are here is this: PEOPLE NEED JESUS! You need Jesus, I need Jesus, Everybody needs Jesus, and he wants US, you and me to represent Him to other people. That is amazing to think about, Jesus wants us to be used by Him, to show other people His insane love for everyone.

I am not an CEO

I receive numerous amounts of junk mail. Sometimes it is spam on the Internet and other times it is through the Pony Express. More and more I am receiving parts of dead trees from people that want to make me into a CEO, wealthy and well heard of Pastor. That i deserve fame, adn if I do church their way then all will be ok. These are "church men and women" whom seem to think that success means that my church has to reach at least 400 if not 4000. They seem to think that bigger is always better. You must have these programs, you must wear this type of clothing, you must read these book, you must etc, etc, etc.

I wonder what Jesus thinks of all of this. That with the right plan, the right money spent at the right time on the right program, with the right church coach will = a successful church. did He die for an instituation? Didd he die so that His church looks more like Starbucks or Microsoft, than a group of loving people? For some reason I keep on thinking that the church Jesus is the head of; is a group of people that have given their lives to Jesus Christ and want to follow him, not a building or business style organism. Maybe I am wrong.

Maybe what God wants is bunch of people punching the time clock, and then forgetting about God, Jesus and living to change our homes; let alone our communities and the world. Maybe I should rely on my experiences in management, more than the Holy Spirit and what the bible has to say. Maybe I should chart out what we need to do, how to get there, make sure I hire the right people "because something this important we need profession, and this cannot be left to the people in the pews". Maybe, just maybe with the right programs, if I have enough control, then this church will grow, that we will have more customers, that we will be success according to Donald Trump.

However I measure success a little bit different. Changed lives. CEO's want numbers, Jesus wants hearts. CEO's want to expand their back pockets; Jesus wants you not to worry about the back pocket. CEO's want to measure results; eternal life is the result of following Jesus.

We must get to the point that we are not looking to make man happy, but instead to please Jesus. Does He want his kingdom to grow? Yes! Does He want us to responsible with the churches he has given us to shepherd? Yes. We need to live and teach according to his Word and the church should "run well". But at the end of the day is it going to matter that I have 3,000 listening to me Sundays or is going to matter that I died to myself and let God use me to bring himself glory?

It's time to stop looking at the numbers, we need to start looking at the hearts. Are people living for Jesus? Are they taking the Word and makign it thier own, are they dting to selfish wants and puttign others and Christ beofre themselves? From what I've read Jesus will build his church. What we are suppossed to be seeking is not numbers but the Kingdom of God and HIS righteousness.

What excites you? What gives you goosebumps? How about the hevee-jeeves? What make syou cry? What makes you laugh? What makes you sing? What brings you peace?

In the world today we look everwhere to find what we want. I want to be like the Jones, so I buy things only to have them repossed, or to be paying up the wazu in debt to "The man". We run, we chase after, we scheme, cheat and steal all for the praise of ther people. So that we can fit in, so that we can be in the in crowd, in realtiy so that other people will except us.

Here in Pablo, we have started the Gospel of John. I know that Jesus is the main character, and the his best friend "A" John is the writer. I love how We are shown that Christ is divine, and that Jesus' mission is to "take away the sins of the world". But, there is a character, a mad man, off in the wilderness that has peeked my intrest.

John the Baptist. He is awild man after God. Imagine him, think about it He probably look's like Grizzly Adam, or Rob Ryan the defensive coach of the Oakland Raiders. He smells of honey and is wearing an camel outfit.

What really impresses me abotu John is that he knew his role and did it. He was the not Christ, Not the prophet, Not Elijah. " I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way of the Lord" ESV John 1:23

The question(s) for you is/are this: what is it that God wants you to be doing? How do you use the talents and abilites he has given you to brign God glory? and what do we need to get rid of (pride, etc) so that we can be better serve God?

Throwing away Chistmas?

This past week I received permission to throw out the churches old Christmas decorations. Most people love Christmas decorations around their church. So and so paid for it, made it etc. The problem is that most of them are not only old, outdate and not in good repair. One person said dont' throw them away. My reply "Then take them home." "If they are not good enough for your house, then why would they be good enough for God's house?"

I wonder what in our lives that we need to throw out? Past fears, past hopes, past accomplishments, past struggles, ugly things from ur lives?

God knows and as we begin to "clean House" here at PCC, I ask that you allwo God to clean out the garbage in you life.

· Guard the Gospel, with the help from the Holy Spirit -2 Tim 1:14-16
· Correctly handle the Word of God, avoid Godless Chatter – 2 Tim 2:15-16
· Flee desires of youth, avoid foolish arguments -2 Tim 2: 22-26
· Keep your wits, endure hardship, be available -2 Tim 4:5
· Fix Eyes on Jesus – Heb 12:2
· Try to live in peace with everyone, and be holy; Watch out for bitterness in self and others- Heb 12:14-15

4. Guard the Flock
· Watch out for false prophets -Matthew 7:15
· “Brother who sins against you” Mathew 18: 15-17
· Keep watch over Flock -Acts 20: 28-31
· Warn against: quarreling about words (ruins those who listen) - 2 Tim 2:14
· Encourage with sound doctrine, refute those who oppose it Titus 1:9
· Warn a divisive person once, twice, and then have nothing to them with Titus 3: 9-10

5. Find Trust Worthy men to help lead the Congregation/Appoint Elders
· Elders ordained by Paul and Baranabus - Acts 14:23
· Laying on the hands to ordain elders, do not do it to unworthy men - I Timothy 5:22
· Entrust teachings to men who are qualified to teach others - 2 Timothy 2:2
· Straighten out what was left unfinished and appoint elders -Titus 1:5

6. Work with fellow leaders as a team to “run” the church
· Church Discipline - Matthew 18:15-17, 1 Tim 5:20
· Feed and take care of Jesus’ sheep -John 21: 15-20
· Keep Watch over the flock, that was purchased with Christ Blood -Acts 20:28
· Restore the erring brother - Gal 6:1&2, James 5:19-20
· Manage the Church -1 Tim 3: 4-5
· Direct the affairs of the church - 1 Tim 5:17
· Pray for the sick, anoint with oil – James 5:14
· Shepherd the Flock, with a willing spirit -1 Peter 5: 1-4

7. Be an example of Christian Living/ Give an Account before God
· God judges, He will bring to light what is in men’s heart - 1 Cor 4:4&5
· We are not trying to please men, but God who judges the heart -1 Thess 2:4
· Don’t let others look down on you, be the example of Christian living. -- 1 Tim 4:12
· Imitate the faith of your leaders, look to their lives, as examples of faith. They must give an account before God and Jesus -Hebrews 13:7, 17
· We who teach are judged more strictly -James 3:1
· Be an example to the flock – 1 Peter 5:3

8. Use talents and Abilities/ Spiritual Gifts to expand God’s Kingdom
· Parable of the Talents – Use them or lose them Matthew 25: 14-30
· Jesus gave us gifts, talents, etc to prepare people for the works of service, so that the church may be built up, Etc - Eph 4:11-16
· Spur one another on toward love and good deeds -Heb 10:24

9. What all of this looks like

We have a man equipped, appointed, anointed by God, not only to help lead God’s church which Christ is the head of, but to make sure that the mans’ own family makes it to heaven too.

There will be some weeks where I am at work around 40 hours and others around a 100 or more. Ministry is not a job, it is calling and a lifestyle. There will be funerals, weddings, counseling, meetings, classes to teach, conventions to attend and emergencies. Plus making sure the pulpit is full every week. There are songs to be sung to God and our Savior on Sunday morning. There will be disagreements to work out, and biblical discipline to gently hand out.

I will stumble, I will fail you, I will fail God. Like Timothy I will hope to be an example of what a Christian looks like, and yet I know that no single man can embody the fullness of Christ Jesus, and no body should expect me to.

I know my gifts include: Speaking the Word of God, Teaching the Word of God, Counseling, Praise and Worship, Exhortation, and Leadership.
I have not been given these for my benefit; they are for the benefit of you and the Kingdom of God. Just as the church doesn’t live for itself; the church lives to serve the world that God and Christ created.

I have at least a duel role – Lead the people into a relationship and teach them the ways of Christ Jesus and help equip them for serving the Kingdom of God. That is why the plurality of shepherds is so important, and the fact that everybody has been called to serve, not only Christ Jesus, but also His church. We are all called to serve God period.We are all called to die to ourselves and live for Jesus.

I will live my life in front of others because the Bible says that I am to be an example. I commit to lead a life of prayer .I commit to study and searching the scriptures. I commit to take one day off a month for a spiritual retreat (Music, Bible, and notebook)- Jesus, often went off by himself to pray. I commit to learning: be it by books, the Internet, magazines, conferences, or time with other ministers .I commit to being available 24/7 - 365 to the flock, which God has put me over (unless on Vacation). I commit to being the spiritual head of my household, and raising my girls to know Jesus

My Goals
· Help people serve God, while boldly proclaiming His Word.
· To the best of my ability live an exemplary Christian Lifestyle.
· Build relationships with church members and members of the community
· Follow God

"Do They Know it's Christmas Time at All?"

I rember growing up inthe 80's. It was fun time the Raiders won the Super Bowl back in 83 destroying the Redskins. It was great time of life. We had lived in the Texas, Virgina, Mass, and finally settled in Conn.

Right now after spending 3 years in the SW I am glad to be in Montana. We are expecting snow this Christmas, and after a long time I can actually sing "Iam dreaming of White Christmas, just liek the ones I used to know"

Speaking of songs there is one that I love. It's the title of this posting "Do they know it's Christmas Time at All?". The big names in British music got together and decided they needed to dosomething about the poor and starving people in Ethopia. So, they made a song, an album and gave the proceeds to help take care of these children and their parents.

Today I was wonderng do people in my community know it's Christmas time at all? Do they know that the greatest gift ever given is the Life of Jesus Christ. Yes, practically my fmaily bought gifts and supplies for a child on the Walmart "Angel Tree". But, does that child and her parents understand what Christmas is about?

Do they think it is just about gifts, happy tidings, and spending time with their familes or do they know that "God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, so that who believes in him, will not perish, but have eternal life" John 3:16 NLT? Do they know that the "christian" world is more about showing love to others, than just recieving the love of others?

That is what our Bristish folks did. They showed the world "Love to others". It is a simple song and simple reminder that the greatest gift we will ever receive is eternal life, brought to us by the Life, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

JESUS HAS A TATOO?

I cannot believe this. People actually say that Jesus has a tatoo. Does he not know that having a tatoo is sin? Has not the scriptures in Leviticus told us that "tattoing for the dead" is a sin?

What about all of those fundamentalist that have called me a heathen and heritic because of mine?

Well guess what, according to scripture in Rev 19:16
"On his Robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of Kings and Lords of Lords"

We can see clearly that text talks abotu on his robe it is written,
and then on his thigh.

What will we come up with next, when we start reading the Bible instead of following what man says?

I belong to two forums. One is mostly made up of Pastors in the Restoration Movement, the other is called the OOZe. Rigth now both are discussing womens rols as elders.IF you were to lable me It would be this " Emerging Restoration Pastor". Then I would look at you and say " You label me, I'll label you". In reality I belong to Christ Jesus. I enjoy the converstaions I have on the OOZe and I enjoy pastoring at Restoration Church. Jesus call's me brother and friend. Maybe so should you.

I see the problems that we run into at "church" is mostly due to people trying to make the Bible fit into what they want. Instead we need to look at the Bible and see what God wants. A lot times there is a difference. It is not up to us to force God to change, it is our responsibilty to allow Him to change us. We might not like what the Bible has to say, but you know a lot of times I didn't like what my bosses said either, and surprise, I followed what they said.

If we stopped fighting for our percieved rights, and follow the example of Jesus in laying down all of our rights. I think that we would see a shift in our realtionships with each other and our Creator.

Maybe that is what "love thy neighbor" really means. Laying down our rights.

Welcome to my musings.

This is the first time I have "blogged" and hope to continue to at least once a week. Some people asked me to start one, so I did. I might not be funny, or orginal. I will have something to say, that will hopefully make you think. Sometimes it might upset you, and other times you might enjoy it. But, in the end at least we shared some time together.
